Stop-Motion Animation
Transition Year students experimented with a variety of practical and digital media processes, ultimately resulting in the development of two- dimensional animations – exploring their everyday experiences. Students worked in groups to create, produce, and edit a narrative according to the aspects of 'school life'. Operating within the constraints of the classroom environment, students experienced the processes involved in the creation of a story; concept development, character creation and development, and digital story-boarding. Once the narrative had been established, students utilised wide- ranging practices to create their two- dimensional animations; gluing, cutting, photographing, drawing, painting. Students worked collaboratively to digitally edit and sequence their final animated output.
Project Aims
At the end of the project, students developed their digital media literacy skills in the planning and creation of their stop-motion animations. Students were able to create and edit their final animation, while gaining an understanding of what it means to work as part of a team within a collaborative environment.
